As I know that my current situation is pretty special I want the deal closed only through eBay’s Buyer Protection Program in order for you to be 100% protected. You will make the payment to eBay and they will hold the money until you receive the car. ONLY AFTER you receive the car and you inspect it(for 10 days) eBay will release the payment to me; in this way we are both protected. Anyway i am sure that if you will don`t be satisfied about the car i will surely find another buyer in your area and there will be no need for you to ship the car back.

I am located in London,United Kingdom and I was sent here to improve the military relationships between USA and United Kingdom. One months ago, my wife moved here with me and brought the car with her, but now we have to sell it back in the United States because we can’t register it here; it has US specs and everything, and registering it here in Europe will take for ever. My final price on it is US 2,960 $. If you will take it for this price, I am willing to handle the shipping. It will be shipped from here by plane with US Air Military Cargo so it will not cost me anything. You will get it to the nearest airport in your area and then it will be trucked forward to your place. You will receive the car in about 3 days. Please get back to me asap if you decide to buy, and include in your e-mail your full name and address where you want it shipped so I can start the deal with eBay. You will receive all the transaction payment and shipping details from them.

Best Regards,

Allen and Maria Dawson

How do I know that it is a scam?

  • The UK and the US are military allies. “Improving the military relationships between USA and United Kingdom” is not a valid claim.
  • Ebay does not conduct deals by email.
  • As stated clearly on the Craigslist site, OFFERS TO SHIP CARS ARE 100% FRAUDULENT
  • Sellers do not sell vehicles for 1/3 of their value and ship them to you for free.

Got another Scammers email today. Why doesn’t the news do reports on this scam so more people would be aware of it. I bet with it being tax season, more people are going to lose their money to these jerks.

    Hunter, we’re all in agreement.

One caution, these guys are criminals, so please play safely with this scum. The email provider for the email address you posted here sends your IP address in the headers of each email. Drop me a note at q2fred@gmail.com if you have questions about that.

    (1) I suggest you deal only with local people.
    (2) If you cannot look at the vehicle with your own two eyes, I advise you to forget the deal.
    (3) Don’t mess with these guys – they are criminals. Do not write them back.
    (4) Pretend it never happened and refer to no. (1)

There’s always a reason why mother’s are said to have a sixth sense!
I was pressuring my mother to make the payment, but wow! I realize how dumb I was to believe it! There should be someone who has to get these people! They are robbing innocent people!

  17. Chief said, on March 12, 2010 at 12:57 pm

Ana, and now your Mom has passed on to you a new truth: “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!” Do not count yourself as among the dumb; these criminals are professionals and continue to dupe the innocent every day. Take Mom out to eat this weekend and see if she will share some more life lessons with you. I have a feeling she has a few more in her back pocket.
    🙂

Thanks for posting the text of the email. We can tell you assuredly that it is a scam. We have a posting of how these things can work for the criminals here: http://wp.me/pxNmw-f3 . The link describes a scammer’s attempt to sell a tractor, but we have seen this technique used with cars, trucks, rv’s, boats, … you name it. How to warn people? You just did. 🙂 By posting here, the Google Search engine will index your information you posted and make it available to the next potential victim. Try a search in a few hours (maybe even a few minutes) and see for yourself.

Thanks again for letting us know. It causes us to smile, then get back to work on warning others. — Chief

You’re welcome, Jos. Now get your butt busy telling all your friends and family how not to get burned by these criminals! 🙂 [Please!]

Give yourself some credit, too. You had the intuition to check these guys out before laying out the cash. — Chief

I kind feel fishy……….no am positive this guy is a fraud also. I think that b/c i got the email above today and this one just now.

Hello, i’m Demoria Perkins . I am a 49 years old chemist recently divorced with no children.I was married for 15 years when
suddenly he told me that he wants a divorce and that he wanted it 10 years ago. Of course I’m devastated, I thought WE
WERE HAPPY…WE NEED COUNSELING NOT A DIVORCE!!! Now, all i want is to get rid of many things that were his and belong to me now. I want to sell my car as soon as possible, it connects me many memories of this car. In fact, i don’t have any
drive license. The final price for the car is $2,910, i’m pretty sure it is a reasonable price and i want to let you know that he didn’t drive it to much and when he did, he kept it clean and never had any accidents with it. The engine it is running in perfect condition, the exterior it has no scratches or any flaws of any kind. I’m fairly confident that it will be very hard to find any car that it is as nice as this one for cheaper.Any way, here are some details about the car so you can make an idea about it.
2004 Nissan Maxima SE VIN: 1n4ba41e34c808845 Mileage: 93.000 miles Transmission : AUTO

I live in Philadelphia PA and here is the car too. The price $2,800 it is the total price including title transfer. I have
worked a lot with eBay so i’m going to sell my car through eBay. It’s the only thing that i can put my trust into it, 100%.
I’m very busy with my divorce process that is why i will be out of town for couple of days, taking care of it, so i can’t
meet you in person. I know that the best deal it is to meet you in person, but believe me, i don’t have time to meet every
potential buyer during this divorce process, it is very important for me to win it. Also, i can’t trust anybody in this
moment to give my phone number, i don’t want somebody to take advantage of being a weakness, just because I’m in the middle
of divorce process. According with the eBay you have 5 days from the time you receive the car to inspect it and decide if
you want to keep it or not. Let me explain you how it works, if you are not popular with this process. First of all I will
be needing the following details from you: your Full Name, your Address and your Phone Number. After I will receive the
details from you, I will forward them to eBay. They will process your info and will send both of us an invoice. The invoice
will come to you with the details on how to make a refundable payment. As soon as you send the money and fax the payment
information to eBay, i will receive an email with the payment confirmation in order to ship you the car. You will receive
the car in 4-5 working days and you will have 5 days to test, verify and do whatever you need to the car. As you can see,
you will receive the car BEFORE any money is released to me. About the shipping fee, it is included into the final price,
$2,800, including also the title transfer. If, for some reason, you disagree with the car (I assure you that is NOT going
to happen since my car is in IMMACULATE condition inside and out) it will be shipped back to me on MY EXPENSE and eBay will
send your money back. You will receive the title of the car with the car, with your name on it. All you need to do is to
sign for it. I hope things are clear for you of the process it is working and I’m waiting for your email.

HH, yes there are many indications that tell me this is a scam. The only one I will highlight (so as not to educate the spammers too much) is that Ebay does not offer such a service for non-Ebay transactions. The others are what made you feel fishy!

We’re glad you found us. Help educate your friends and family by telling them about your experience with these scammers.

Theresa, you are not stupid. These criminals prey on the honesty our culture embraces. They dupe dozens of hard-working folks every day. We’re glad your intuition told you to check him out and then, to find us. Be sure to educate your friends and family regarding the tactics of these criminals. — Chief

  26. Theresa said, on March 23, 2010 at 11:05 am

What happened was I tried to email him at the topgun email and it would not go through so, that was when I googled his name. I am glad that I got a kick back email saying that address had been deleted. I would have lost $3000 of my settlement money and been in bad shape.

  30. zackaria said, on April 5, 2010 at 1:33 pm

Hey i was wondering how can these people get caught?

  31. Chief said, on April 5, 2010 at 4:19 pm

    Zacharia,
The short answer is -> it’s complicated and it does not happen very often.

The long answer? The criminal usually does not reside in the United States and may have conned another victim into laundering the money for him. Only rarely would he scam two victims in the same police jurisdiction, so law enforcement is not compelled to expend expensive research time for a single victim who has been scammed of “only” ~$5000. The criminal is information-system savvy and operates in such a way that electronic traceability to his exact location requires much cooperation between multiple law enforcement jurisdictions and a handful of internet providers scattered across the globe. The traceability of funds sent via MoneyGram or Western Union is virtually nil and the probability of getting the victim’s money back is very low. If the person picking up the money for the criminal is using a false name and a false ID, the probability of getting the money back is very near zero.

We’re not being pessimistic — merely realistic. That is why we focus on educating the public so that the demand for this type deal dries up. If you have insight or good contacts within the law enforcement community who are willing to spend the research hours to apprehend these guys, drop us a line. It would thrill us to have to close down this blog because no one is being bilked by these criminals. Unfortunately, that is not the case.

Secondly ,I don’t even have a drivers license and believe me at my age that could really be a challenge to get. I know I should t tell you this as I don t really know you but this is the real reason why I’ m selling so cheep. The final price for the car is $2,800, I’m pretty sure it is a reasonable price. Also, I want to let you know that it is a very well maintained car .
The engine is running in perfect condition, the exterior has no scratches or flaws of any kind.
I live in Philadelphia , PA ,and here is where the car is too. The price $2,800 it is the total price including title transfer. I have worked a lot with eBay so I’m going to sell my car through them. It’s the only thing that I can put my trust into , 100%.
I’m very busy handling everything that is why i will be out of town for couple of days, so I can’t meet you in person. I know that the best deal it is to meet you in person, but believe me, I don’t have time to meet every potential buyer during my divorce process, it is very important for me to win it. Also,I can’t trust anybody in this moment to give my phone number, I don’t want somebody to take advantage of being weak just because I’m in the middle of divorce process. According to eBay you have 5 days from the time you receive the car to inspect it and decide if you want to keep it or not. Let me explain you how it works, if you are not popular with this process. First of all I will be needing the following details from you: your Full Name, your Address and your Phone Number. After I will receive the details from you, I will forward them to eBay. They will process your info and will send both of us an invoice. The invoice will give you all the necessary details on how to make a refundable payment. As soon as you send the money and fax the payment information to eBay, I will receive an email with the payment confirmation and I will ship you the car. You will receive the car in 4-5 working days (it depends on where you live) and you will have 5 days to test drive it, verify and do whatever you need to the car.
As you can see,you will receive the car BEFORE any money is released to me. About the shipping fee, it is included in the final price, $2,800, including also the title transfer. If, for some reason, you disagree with the car (I assure you that is NOT going to happen since my car is in IMMACULATE condition inside and out) it will be shipped back to me at MY EXPENSE and eBay will send your money back. You will receive the title of the car with the car, with your name on it. All you need to do is to sign for it. I hope things are clear for you and we can make this a smooth process. Please let me know if you agree with the terms and if you have any more questions I will be more than happy to answer.

    Have a great day!

I totally agree! They are so pathetic to use such an excuse. I’ve received a couple of those emails too. They are supposedly in the army trying to fix international communications between the US and where ever they say they are. It’s just ridiculous.

I just got divorced and I decided to move closer to my parents. Right now I’m located in Florida and the car is in New York where I use to live. The car will be shipped from NY on my expenses. It was awarded to me in our divorce. Being a single mother and not having a driver’s license i decided to sell the car. As I’m unable to travel in the near future and I don’t have anyone to help me with the sale I decided to make this transaction through eBay.You will make the payment to eBay and they will hold the money until you receive the car. ONLY AFTER you receive the car and you inspect it(for 10 days) eBay will release the payment to me; in this way we are both protected.I believe this protects both buyer and seller and it’s the right way to do this. From the moment the payment is secured by eBay the shipping process will begin and it will arrive at your address in about 3 max. 4 working days.
The final price is $2,950 including shipping and delivery to your home address. If you agree with these terms and you have the money, send me your full name and the address where you want the car to be delivered and I will initiate the transaction with eBay. You will receive all the transaction details from them.
I will appreciate an answer as soon as possible. Also, feel free to ask me any question you may have.
    Thank you,

    Respectfully,

    Chelsie,
Scammers are professionals. They are typically located in Eastern Europe and often mask their location by using servers in Germany, Australia, etc. to launch their emails. Since there is no “international police force”, you could understand the international hurdles that must be cleared to effectively track these individuals. Success does occur … see this link. I have no idea if any of the criminals I have exposed were in that group.

Notwithstanding, some of these criminals are in the U.S. and Western Europe. Unfortunately, I see no decrease in the vehicle/fake ebay/western union scams. — Chief

Anyway i am sure that if you won`t be satisfied about the car i will surely find another buyer in your area and there will be no need for you to ship the car back. I am located in London, United Kingdom and I was sent here with my department of peace maintenance. One month ago my wife moved here with me and brought the car with her but now we have to sell it back in the United States because we can’t register it here; it has US specs and everything and registering it here in Europe will take for ever. My final price on it is 2950 USD. If you will take it for this price I am willing to handle the shipping. It will be shipped from here by plane with US Air Military Cargo so it will not cost me anything. You will get it to the nearest airport in your area and then it will be trucked forward to your place. You will receive the car in about 3 days. Please get back to me ASAP if you decide to buy and include in your e-mail your full name and address where you want it shipped so I can start the deal with eBay. You will receive all the transaction payment and shipping details from them.

    Best Regards,
    John and Cathy Baldwin

I just received a similar email from this Demoria Perkins and I had already checked out with Ebay and they actually gave me some good information. They do not hold any monies as a third party for any transaction whatsoever. I have used Paypal all the time and it works out alot better. Even when I replied to this email, they try to convince you to send it instead of using Paypal. These people need to get a life (but in PRISON).

    Joe, thanks for posting.

Ebay does provide an escrow service, but it is only with items auctioned on an Ebay Auction. Ebay Classifieds – no! Individual sales – no!

It would be a good idea to report the abuse of the imageshack album. Simply press the “report abuse” link on the album page and place the scammer’s entire email (with headers) into the reason form. There! Now you, too, are a scam fighter!

If the buyer cannot meet the seller and place his hands on the wheel of the vehicle, there is a high probability that it is a scam!

I almost sent 1/2 the price of the car to the “agent” at eBay Motor. When I started to do it the person at the Western Union was shaking her head and asked me if I could hold on for a second. She talked to her manager. Turns out someone else had almost the same story 2 weeks before. So I thanked them very much, went home and contacted a friend of mine in the FBI. He contacted his guy in the Internet Fraud Complaints Department. I gave them all the info I had along with what the folks at the Western Union store had. I also contacted a person I know who is a cop in Atlanta (at least I am trying to get him). Just now they think I am still dangling on the hook. I would have been out $2,950. I would joyfully watch as these/this bit@* gets eviscerated for she/him/it or shit for short (since I don’t know if it is a man or woman) good work… will keep you all posted.

Good job, Jack. And kudos to Western Union for maintaining an environment for that allowed the clerk to catch this.

    1. She is not savvy enough to use the same name several times (but savvy enough to effectively use the eBay Motors front well)
    2. She has recently completed (and I am sure the folks on here have supportable documentation) well done scams on the good citizens of this community
    3. I have an active and still working deal with her that I am stringing along as well as I can
    4. I want burn someone like this in the worst way in the worst way (if you know what I mean
    5. I have the very active ear of the FBI and a sheriff of Atlanta area

I just need people to move with me ASAP!!!! to get this bitch or bitches off the streets and into the clink

Well. I guess these boards don’t get checked often enough. I have been looking for other ways of getting together enough of what the FBI wants and needs can’t in this time frame. I guess what I will have to do it to settle with the mild staisfaction of scaring her a bit.

Take care everyone and good luck to you all.

    Chief,
Sorry about that. I was trying really fast to build a case with some of her victims here on this board for the FBI and go after her. I will learn the rules here and respect them. My bad.

For what it is worth I sent her an email hoping to scare her though I am sure she (if it is a she) will laugh it off. I told her I was trying to build a case against her.

I guess mostly it was cathartic for me more than threataning for her.

    Thanks Chief.
