Scammer Brian Haley – Selling 1995 Honda Accord EX – $1400

Posted in database, ebay spoof, scammer by Chief on January 31, 2011

I inquired about a vehicle advertised online and received this response from scammer Brian

My 1995 Honda Accord EX is in great shape. It was always garaged and never smoked in. It has no scratches, dents or something like that. No mechanical or electrical problems. Clean title in hand. It does not need anything additional to function, has only 122,000 miles. I work in the army and i got divorced so i don’t need the car anymore because it was my wife’s car.I want the deal closed only through eBay Motors Vehicle Purchase Protection in order for you to be 100% protected. You will make the payment to eBay and they will hold the money until you receive the car. ONLY AFTER you receive the car and inspect it (for 5 days) eBay will release the payment to me, this way we are both protected. The last price is 1400$. If you will take it for this price, I am willing to handle the shipping. Please get back to me asap if you decide to buy, and include in your e-mail your full name and address where you want it shipped so I can start the deal with eBay. You will receive all the transaction payment and shipping details from them.

Thank you and have a nice day,

Lt. Brian Haley

The impatient Brian writes again:

Please tell me if you receive the info’s from eBay??? Please let me know what you decide. Keep me posted! I got the ebay email. They are telling me to use Western Union. That is silly. I have paypal money ready to pay them. I am waiting for their response.

I wrote to the fake ebay address:

Hello, I already bought a paypal card with $1400 on it so I could use to pay you. That is how I pay Ebay — paypal.

I responded to Brian:

I got the ebay email. They are telling me to use Western Union. That is silly. I have paypal money ready to pay them. I am waiting for their response.

I never received a reply from the spoofed ebay address. I received this from Brian:

AlI’m sorry but this is the only way, because of my military status i can’t withdraw checks or any kind of bank accounts.

I replied:

Brian, I thought I was paying Ebay and Ebay was paying you.

And I wrote Brian again:

Am I wrong? I want to buy your car. I have my money ready to sent. AL

End of correspondence.
