    Hey Chief!
Love the job you do against the scammers. I posted a scam on “Fight the Scams” today. I had a trailer for sale on CL and got an email from a scammer wanting to buy it. I’m sure you know how that scam works as do I. Just thought it would be of benefit to let others know that it’s not only buyers that need to be on alert for these lowlife scammers but sellers too! Keep up the good work!

Right you are, Rellik. I was introduced to the selling end of scams in 2003 when I was selling a musical instrument. Just encourage sellers to tell scamming buyers that, “I am not a bank.” If the scammer has a check that is too large, he can take it to the bank and cash it first.

I’ll check out your posting and make sure I am familiar with the mode of operation that the scammer exhibits.

    Hi,
Thank you for your interest in my 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe LTZ(61,170 miles). Is in absolutely perfect condition and well maintained. I sell it at this price ($3,800) because I just finished the divorce with my husband. When the divorce was finished I owned this car. Anyway in this situation I can only watch it. I have some financial problems right now so I want to sell it asap and a fast sale can be done only at a low price. Unfortunately for me my daughter is in hospital and I can’t do this transaction personally, the transaction will be made through eBay protection program for the safety of both of us. The total price is $3,800 and it includes delivery to your address. If you want to buy it I just need your full name and address so I can open a case. You must know that eBay will contact you without any obligation to buy it or fees.
Please reply me asap if interested.

    Email #2
The car is already at the delivery company in Miami, Florida sealed and ready for delivery. I’m very busy with my daughter so I can’t meet you in person, so this is the reason why I chose to sell my car over the Internet. I have a contract with eBay so this deal must go through them. This is how it will work. I received your info, I will forward them to eBay. They will process your info and will send us both invoices. eBay will send you all the details on how to make a refundable payment. They holds the funds until the car is delivered to buyer, inspected and the buyer confirms that he received the car in the described condition. According with the eBay you have 5 days from the time you receive the car to inspect it and decide if you want to keep it or not. If you for any reason will not like the car (but I assure you that will not happening) eBay will refund the money and I will instruct the delivery company to store the car until I will find a new buyer. Is not necessary to ship the car back. If you wish to make the transaction, please tell me so we can proceed.
I look forward to hear from you.

    Thank you,
    Darlene

I sure hope they don’t get away with scamming anyone. Thank you for this site, I googled the fax number I was given and this site popped right up. (Not that I was going to fall for it anyway, wasn’t born yesterday lol) Remember people, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is!

    scam?

    Dear***,

In order to purchase the 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe LTZ ,you need to go to any Western Union office and make the payment of $3,800.00 with cash using our agent name and address (Receiver’s Name and Address) .The payment must be completed to a person directly which is our agent .You will be the sender and the our agent will be the receiver. The form of the payment must be Money in Minutes so we can verify the transfer faster. Below you can find our available agent:

    eBay Customer Support Agent*:

    First Name: Barbara
    Last Name: Garcia
    Address: 1530 E Sahara Ave
    City: Las Vegas
    State: NV
    Zip: 89104
    Country: United States

*The Western Union transfer will be sent using this name and address.

After you make the payment we strongly recommend to send us fax with the Western Union payment receipt at : +1(856) 318-8202 and e-mail with the following payment information:

MTCN Number(Money Transfer Control Number) – 10 digits number found on the payment receipt
    Sender’s Name and Address
    Receiver’s Name and Address
    Total Amount Sent

Once we receive the fax and the payment details as explained above, we will instruct the seller to start the delivery process. The car will be delivered in 2 days to your address and it will be made by a truck. You will have 5 days from the time you receive the vehicle to inspect it and decide if you want to keep it or not. In case you don’t like the vehicle all the returning fees will be supported by seller and your money will be fully refunded immediately as you confirm to us.

    scam?

  21. Chief said, on November 3, 2011 at 4:08 pm

    Oh, yes.
    * If a person you do not know personally asks you to send money via Western Union, it is a scam
    * If an unseen vehicle is going to be delivered to you via a method prescribed by the seller, it is a scam
    * Ebay does not have Customer Support Agents who collect money
    * (856) 318-8202 is the number of a known scammer
    * Nobody offers a money-back guarantee like the last paragraph proposes.

I apologize, I was under the impression that you heard of E-BT before since they mostly sell on eBay and Craigslist.
Like I said before I will be happy to walk you through the process. E-BT is short for e-Business Trader and their website is e-businesstrader.com , maybe now this sounds familiar to you. They will take care of shipping, payment and title transfer(it is already signed by me and notarized so they are empowered to do this ). As they describe themselves, “e-Business Trader is a safe payment system for the Internet that protects both buyer and seller from various forms of online fraud”.
I left the vehicle in their possession last week and I just listed it recently on craigslist. The fact that I’m not home will not affect the selling procedure through this service. So the process goes like this: if you agree with the vehicle description and price, you must register on their website and they will send you an invoice with the payment instructions and the transaction details. You send the payment to them and as soon as the payment is confirmed they will start the shipping process, which usually takes between 3 and 5 working days. As soon as you will receive the vehicle, a 10 Day money Back Guarantee starts (which is a standard guarantee for all items listed on Craigslist) and you can inspect it and see if it’s everything you expected. This guarantee allows you to return the vehicle if by any chance something is wrong with it, my description was not accurate or I failed to specify something about it’s condition. Basically you can return the vehicle with no questions asked and if that’s the case the returning process will be free of charge for you, I will be held responsible for all costs. If you accept the vehicle, then you’ll sign that you accept it and they will transfer the payment to me. I forgot to mention that the complete process is free of charge for you, the listed price on craigslist already includes all the fees including the shipping and handling, so there is no reason to be scared for any extra fees, there are none. The process is very simple and secure, it may sound a little complicated because I had to explain the whole deal in details, it really isn’t complicated at all. I hope you are still interested and if you would like to start the process you need to register at e-businesstrader.com. If that’s the case please make sure you understand the process and read the terms and conditions listed on their website before you register. I will be glad to answer any questions you may have.

I still have the vehicle available. it is in very good to excellent condition throughout, with all options working as they should. Since purchasing, it has always been kept in my heated garage. Engine and transmission are in perfect conditions, no leaks, no smoke, no slips. It gets serviced every 6000 miles. This car has had a great life .It’s a non-smokers vehicle. It has never been in an accident. It has a clear and clean title, free of all liens and encumberances.
Unfortunately I am not home and I can’t sell it myself because my sister had a baby and she had some complications so she is still under medical care. Her husband asked me if I can come and take care of things around the house until she gets better. This is no problem for me as far as the transaction is concerned because I was selling this through e-BT anyway. I believe you know what e-BT is if you buy and sell online often, if you don’t I’ll be glad to walk you through the process. Let me know if you are still interested

SCAM –> E-BUSINESSTRADER.COM Why would a fellow in Texas register his domain in Russia? There is no such thing as a shipping / escrow company.

Triple evidence of a scam. I would ask that you report the entire case to http://ic3.gov . This is the central database by which investigations are based. Be sure to include the specific banking account info on your submittal.
