Be Wary of Links to Fake Ebay Sites
Some emails from scammers ask you to visit their fake ebay sites to “complete the sale.” Watch the URL address window of your browser to make sure you are on the site you planned to be. Since many webmail interfaces are flagging the scammers links as bogus, some have begun to use a redirection service.
For example, the scammer may ask you to click on a link that looks similar to http://path.to/myebaycamper/ . This is a redirection link and was redirected to http://pre-approved-ebay.wz.cz/2009….(yadda…yadda) — a very fake ebay site. The folks at http://path.to/ have been very cooperative in removing those redirection links — but only after we reported them. Note: all the above links are now dead; scammers move around frequently.
Ya’ll be careful out there!
